Indian Seafarers Safe in Gulf and West Asia

The Indian government confirmed on Sunday that all Indian seafarers in the Gulf and West Asia region are safe, with no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels reported in the last 24 hours. The Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, through the Directorate General of Shipping, has successfully repatriated over 2,084 Indian seafarers, including 75 in the last day from various Gulf locations.

Port operations across India are functioning normally, with no congestion noted. The Ministry is actively coordinating with the Ministry of External Affairs, Indian Missions, and maritime stakeholders to ensure the welfare of seafarers and maintain smooth maritime operations. The Shipping Control Room remains operational around the clock, having managed over 6,053 calls and 12,787 emails since its activation. In the past 24 hours alone, it received 80 calls and 112 emails.

Indian Missions are maintaining close contact with the local Indian community, providing assistance and issuing advisories for their safety. The Ministry of External Affairs continues to monitor developments in the Gulf and West Asia region, ensuring that round-the-clock helplines are available and that updated advisories are regularly issued regarding local guidelines and travel situations. Flights from various countries in the region to India are ongoing, with significant passenger movement since February 28.
