The Integrated Transport Centre (ITC), in partnership with Abu Dhabi Maritime and various stakeholders such as Abu Dhabi Police and the Environment Agency, has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing maritime operations in Abu Dhabi. This initiative is designed to align with the emirate’s strategic objectives related to sustainability, innovation, and quality of life. Its primary goal is to establish a cohesive regulatory framework that promotes safer, more efficient, and environmentally responsible maritime practices.

As part of this effort, five new Codes of Practice (CoPs) have been introduced as regulatory and operational guidelines for maritime companies, operators, and infrastructure developers. These manuals adhere to international best practices and cover various aspects of maritime activities. Notable guidelines include the “Abu Dhabi Guideline for Safe Maritime Activities,” which sets safety standards for activities like leisure boating and diving, and the “Abu Dhabi Guideline for Safe Operation of Public Water Transport,” which outlines safety and licensing requirements for water transport services.

Additionally, the guidelines address the design and construction of small marine crafts and maritime infrastructure, ensuring that all vessels and facilities meet specific safety and engineering standards. Eng. Bader Khamis Al Shemeli emphasized that these guidelines demonstrate the Council’s commitment to enhancing quality, safety, and regulatory compliance in the maritime sector.
