The Transport General Authority (TGA) announced on Monday a temporary suspension of the requirement for valid certificates and documents necessary for issuing or renewing maritime licenses and work permits for marine units. This suspension will last for 30 days, with the possibility of extension if deemed necessary, provided that safety and environmental protection are not compromised.

This decision is applicable to both Saudi and foreign vessels operating in the Kingdom’s territorial waters in the Arabian Gulf. The TGA’s move is a response to current circumstances, aiming to facilitate the uninterrupted flow of maritime activities and operational processes.

Moreover, the exemption extends to vessels engaged in maritime works and projects within Saudi waters that may encounter operational difficulties. These challenges could prevent such vessels from departing to meet technical requirements or undergo essential inspections abroad.

Overall, the TGA’s initiative seeks to enhance operational efficiency in the maritime sector while ensuring that safety and environmental standards remain intact.
