Indramayu (ANTARA) – Search and Rescue teams are actively searching for 10 crew members missing from the fishing vessel KM Putri Lancar Samudera B GT14, which capsized due to large waves in the Java Sea off Indramayu, West Java, on Monday. The vessel was en route from Eretan Port to its fishing grounds when it encountered the powerful waves that led to its sinking, throwing all 18 crew members into the water.
According to Ade Dian Permana, head of the Bandung SAR Office, the ongoing operation involves deploying sea assets and rescue personnel to expedite the search for the missing crew. Initial rescue efforts were launched immediately after the incident, with teams from the Cirebon SAR Post and the Bandung 03 Rigid Buoyancy Boat (RBB) mobilized to the area. The SAR vessel KN Setyaki 202 was also dispatched to the vessel’s last known position to assist in the search.
Several crew members have been rescued, with the vessel KN Surya Makmur initially saving two individuals, followed by additional rescues from the fishing boat Cumi Rahayu Jaya, which located three more survivors. By Tuesday morning, a total of eight crew members had been rescued, while 10 remain unaccounted for. The search area has been organized into four sectors, coordinated with the Vessel Traffic Service (VTS) and passing ships.
