A general cargo ship flying the Netherlands flag was reportedly attacked southeast of Yemen, as reported by the British maritime security firm Ambrey on Monday. The incident took place approximately 120 nautical miles from the port city of Aden.

The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) corroborated military reports indicating that an unidentified projectile struck the vessel 128 nautical miles off Aden, resulting in a fire on board. Both Ambrey and UKMTO observed smoke in the vicinity, and the ship’s captain mentioned seeing a distant splash.

During the attack, the ship was not broadcasting its automatic identification system, according to Ambrey. This vessel had previously been targeted on September 23 while en route to Djibouti, though the identity of the attackers remains unverified. The incident raises concerns about potential connections to Yemen’s Iran-aligned Houthi forces amid escalating tensions in the Red Sea region.
