SMF and PCL to Strengthen Maritime Talent Development Initiatives

On May 26, Pacific Carriers Limited (PCL) and the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance their commitment to developing talent in the maritime industry. This initiative aims to strengthen the talent pipeline and support the growth of young maritime professionals.

From 2025 to 2027, PCL will sponsor up to three MaritimeONE scholarships and at least three internships annually. Additionally, the company will contribute to other SMF initiatives under the MaritimeONE program, providing youth with immersive learning experiences.

Chubasco Antonio Monteiro, Deputy CEO & Fleet Director of PCL, emphasized the importance of cultivating a future-ready maritime workforce. He noted that working with MaritimeONE scholars has demonstrated the potential for young professionals to make significant contributions to the sector.

Ms. Tan Beng Tee, Executive Director of SMF, remarked that the MOU signifies a united effort to build a talent pipeline for the maritime industry, reinforcing PCL’s ongoing support for talent development.
