The Tulsa Port of Catoosa welcomed 275 high school students on Wednesday to highlight career opportunities within the maritime industry. This initiative aims to introduce young individuals to a sector that many may not have previously considered, showcasing the diverse roles available in maritime-related fields.

Oklahoma’s maritime industry employs thousands, primarily along the McClellan-Kerr Navigation System, which links the state to New Orleans. The event, organized by the trade group “We Work the Waterways,” emphasizes the potential for rewarding careers in this sector. Many positions offer competitive wages and do not require formal education beyond high school, making them accessible to a broad range of students.
