DG Shipping Intensifies Search for Missing Indian Seafarer

The directorate under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways has communicated that the family of the missing seafarer has been notified. They are providing necessary support and assistance to the family during this challenging period.

Authorities have already commenced a fact-finding investigation to ensure that all contractual and legal obligations are met. This includes welfare assistance in line with relevant laws, international conventions, and agreements, as stated by the Directorate General of Shipping (DGS).

On Friday, state minister for Industries, Skill Development, and Technical Education, Sampad Chandra Swain, reached out to Union minister Sarbananda Sonowal, urging for action to locate and rescue the missing seafarer, Mohapatra.

In response, the directorate has stepped up coordination efforts with all relevant stakeholders to enhance the search and rescue operations.
