From February 10-12, the Anglo-Eastern Univan Group hosted a significant crew conference in Manila, attracting around 600 Filipino officers, ratings, valued clients, and global senior leaders. The event highlighted the Group’s evolving capabilities and commitment to partners and seafarers, centered around the theme ‘Delivering Excellence,’ inspired by the Balangay, the Philippines’ oldest seafaring vessel.

At the Grand Hyatt Manila, CEO Bjorn Hojgaard emphasized that while the shipping industry evolves, the core principles remain unchanged. He stated, “Our focus remains the same – prepare people as much as ships.” Hojgaard underscored that Anglo-Eastern’s identity is defined not by its scale but by its standards, culture, and operational methods. He reiterated the organization’s commitment to maintaining a zero-detention fleet, emphasizing that this goal is driven by safety rather than vanity.

The conference featured presentations from distinguished guests, including Hon Hans Leo J. Cacdac, Secretary of the Philippines’ Department of Migrant Workers, represented by Atty Jerome T. Pampolina. Leaders from Anglo-Eastern shared insights on how people, partnerships, and technology enhance performance and resonate with local talent.

Celebrating nearly 40 years in the Philippines, Anglo-Eastern’s contributions were recognized with the Presidential Award of Excellence. The event also marked the opening of the Group’s new office at 8912 Asean Avenue, which consolidates various Manila-based entities, including the Anglo-Eastern Maritime Training Centre. This facility aims to foster collaboration between crewing and training departments, ensuring that every seafarer embodies the technical competence and professionalism associated with the Anglo-Eastern brand.
