MarTrust, a prominent crew payments provider serving over 150,000 seafarers, has announced a partnership with the International Seafarers’ Welfare and Assistance Network (ISWAN). This collaboration seeks to enhance awareness and accessibility of mental health and financial wellbeing resources within the maritime sector. ISWAN, a global non-profit, provides 24/7 helplines and support for seafarers and their families, aiming to reach more individuals in need.

The financial backing from MarTrust will bolster ISWAN’s welfare initiatives, including the development of a new Power BI Dashboard. This tool will aggregate helpline data on critical wellbeing issues such as financial stress, fatigue, and isolation, enabling shipowners and managers to better comprehend the challenges faced by their crews and to implement proactive support measures.

ISWAN’s multilingual helplines assist thousands of seafarers annually, offering both practical and emotional support for various concerns, including financial worries and family issues. To further enhance accessibility, ISWAN’s resources will now be integrated into the MarTrust crew app, providing seafarers with streamlined access to essential support while at sea.

Both organizations view this partnership as the beginning of a long-term alliance, with plans to expand awareness of welfare resources and develop digital tools to improve seafarer wellbeing through shared insights.
