The Liberian Registry has launched two innovative online platforms aimed at simplifying processes for seafarers. These platforms facilitate the application for necessary sailing documents for Liberian-flagged vessels, available at https://seafarers.liscr.com/. This initiative streamlines the submission of applications and document uploads, enhancing convenience for maritime professionals.
In addition, the Registry has revamped its licensing examination process, introducing a new management system that allows eligible seafarers to take their exams online. The platform, found at https://seafarerexam.liscr.com/, enables seafarers associated with approved training centers to complete their exams from any location at their convenience. This modernization reflects the industry’s adaptation to technological advancements, particularly in response to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Alfonso Castillero, Chief Operating Officer of the Liberian Ship and International Corporate Registry (LISCR), emphasized that these platforms are crucial for integrating technology into Liberia’s maritime operations. They aim to alleviate barriers that seafarers may encounter in securing employment, especially amid ongoing crew change challenges exacerbated by the pandemic. Overall, these developments represent a significant step toward enhancing the efficiency and accessibility of services for seafarers worldwide.
