A seafarer has launched a new website, OffshoreShipAdvisor.com, aimed at providing a Tripadvisor-like platform for seafarers and offshore workers. This site allows crew members to rate and review onboard living conditions, promoting transparency and improving standards within the maritime industry.
The anonymous creator expressed hopes that the platform will not only showcase the positive contributions of seafarers but also highlight areas for improvement, benefiting both maritime professionals and organizations. Many seafarers, who often work as subcontractors, face challenges when seeking new jobs, as existing platforms typically offer limited information about onboard facilities.
On OffshoreShipAdvisor.com, seafarers can evaluate various aspects of ships, including accommodation, food quality, wifi, and cleanliness. Currently, the site covers 37,400 vessels, with plans to expand beyond offshore ships to other commercial types.
The site has already identified the 19-year-old French-flagged RS Alegranza as the worst-rated vessel, receiving harsh reviews from crew members regarding its poor living conditions and food quality.
