The Department of Transportation (DOTr) in Manila has announced that seafarers will enjoy free rides on the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) and Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) on Wednesday, June 25. This initiative celebrates the Day of the Filipino Seafarer, aimed at recognizing their contributions to the maritime industry.
Seafarers can avail themselves of free rides during specific times: on LRT-2, from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM. For MRT-3, the free rides will be available for the entire operational day starting at 5:30 AM.
To take advantage of this offer, seafarers need to present valid identification, such as their Seafarer’s Record Book, Seafarer’s Identity Document, or Seafarer’s Identification Booklet. This initiative underscores the importance of seafarers in the economy and aims to provide them with an accessible means of transportation on their special day.
