Repatriation Underway for Seafarers Freed from Yemen

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has announced that today marks the repatriation of a group of Filipino seafarers who were previously held hostage. These seafarers were part of the MV Eternity C and were captured by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea.

According to the DMW, there are still documents being processed for the return of these Filipino crew members. The situation has garnered attention as it highlights the risks faced by seafarers in conflict zones.

Recently, the Sultanate of Oman confirmed that the Filipino crew members have safely arrived in Muscat, Oman, after being transferred from Sana’a, Yemen. This development is a crucial step in ensuring their safe return to the Philippines.

The Philippine Embassy in Muscat, along with the Migrant Workers Office, is actively collaborating to facilitate the repatriation process for these seafarers. Their efforts underscore the commitment to safeguarding the welfare of Filipino workers abroad, particularly in volatile regions.
