The Irish Nautical Trust is offering a Comprehensive Maritime Training Course starting in January 2024 for individuals interested in pursuing a career in the maritime industry. The course is open to anyone aged 18 and over, from any background, who is currently unemployed or considering a career change. It is a full-time course that requires participants to be available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, for 12 weeks starting on January 15th. The course covers a range of topics aimed at preparing trainees for a career on the water and includes a substantial amount of on-course learning.
The syllabus includes certifications such as ENG11 Medical Fitness Certificate, STCW Personal Survival Techniques, and VHF Short Range Radio Licence, among others. Participants will also develop skills in vessel maintenance, coastal navigation, passage planning, weather analysis, tides and tidal theory, and buoyage. The course also includes a guaranteed minimum of 50 logged hours of on-the-water boat training.
