The Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Customs Zone has achieved a significant milestone in LNG bunkering with the introduction of a new service. The world’s largest LNG transport and refueling vessel, Haiyang Shiyou 301, has successfully completed its first ship-to-ship LNG refueling for the CMA CGM Unity vessel at the Meishan Port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port. This breakthrough development is set to transform LNG bunkering in the region.

Owned by CNOOC, Haiyang Shiyou 301 is a 30,000-cubic-meter LNG tanker that measures 184.7 meters in length and 28.1 meters in width. Its impressive capabilities include the ability to bunk two LNG-powered vessels simultaneously. With its size and efficiency, the vessel is poised to revolutionize the LNG refueling process and promote the use of LNG as a cleaner fuel alternative.

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port, known as the world’s largest cargo transshipment port and the third-largest container transshipment port, is primed for international travel fueling. The introduction of this new service solidifies its potential as a major player in the LNG bunkering industry. Ningbo-Zhoushan Port now joins the ranks of Shanghai Port and Yantian Port as one of the top LNG bunkering sites for international travel.

In conclusion, the successful ship-to-ship LNG refueling at Ningbo-Zhoushan Port marks a significant step forward in LNG bunkering. The Haiyang Shiyou 301 vessel and its capabilities demonstrate the port’s commitment to cleaner energy alternatives and its potential for fueling international travel. This development positions Ningbo-Zhoushan Port as a major player in the LNG bunkering industry, alongside Shanghai Port and Yantian Port.
