Somali pirates have hijacked the Bangladeshi ship MV Abdullah and are taking it to their safe zone on the Somali coast. The owners of the ship, SR Shipping, a sister concern of KSRM, are trying to make contact with the pirates but have not been successful yet. The 13 crew members on board are safe and physically well, and KSRM has sought cooperation from international organizations and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Negotiations for rescue cannot begin until the pirates make contact, but the UK-based insurer of the ship has started taking steps to reach out to the pirates.
Eleven out of the 23 crew members of MV Abdullah are residents of Chattogram, Bangladesh. The ship was carrying coal from Mozambique to the UAE when it was attacked and hijacked by Somali pirates. The crew members, including the captain and various officers, are being held hostage by the pirates. The family of one crew member, Joy Mahmud, is anxiously waiting for news and demanding urgent action to free all crew members. Joy’s parents are distraught and want the government and ship authorities to take immediate steps to rescue their son and the other crew members.
The ship MV Abdullah is owned by SR Shipping Lines, a sister company of KSRM Group, and all crew members are being held hostage by the Somali pirates. The crew members come from various districts in Bangladesh, with 11 from Chattogram alone. The pirates took control of the ship while it was en route to the UAE, and the families of the crew members are anxiously waiting for news and demanding swift action for their release. Joy Mahmud’s family, in particular, is deeply worried about their son and is calling for urgent steps to free all crew members.
