Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dedicated the MGR (Merry-Go-Round) system from Talaipalli Coal Mine to NTPC Lara STPS in Chhattisgarh. The 65-km-long electrified MGR system will play a crucial role in generating low-cost and reliable power from NTPC Lara, thereby enhancing the country’s energy security. The project, costing Rs 2071 crore, will deliver low-cost, high-grade coal from NTPC’s Talaipalli mine to the NTPC Lara Super Thermal Power Station. Additionally, the MGR system will be connected to the Howrah-Mumbai main railway line, facilitating coal transportation to other parts of the country. With a 61-meter girder bridge and over 200 bridges and culverts, the MGR system is a technological marvel in coal transportation.
