DP World’s International Container Transhipment Terminal (ICTT) in Cochin recently welcomed four new state-of-the-art electric RTG (Rubber Tired Gantry) cranes, a move that contributes to the company’s sustainability goals and commitment to reducing carbon emissions. These E-RTGs align with DP World’s ambitious plan to achieve a 28% reduction in CO2 emissions by 2030. Furthermore, the arrival of two STS Mega Max (Ship-to-Shore) cranes in December 2023 further supports the company’s dedication to expanding its capacity and sustainability efforts.

CEO Praveen Thomas Joseph emphasized the importance of operational excellence and customer service while highlighting the significant decrease in carbon footprint resulting from the implementation of electric cranes. The ICTT’s extensive service network connects over 12 ports along the coasts of India, facilitating direct connections to various regions such as the Middle East, Far East, Europe, and the Mediterranean. As the largest transshipment terminal in South and East India, handling over 50% of direct/mainline cargo, this milestone further solidifies ICTT’s position as a preferred gateway for South India and a key transshipment terminal for the entire country.
