The owner of the Saudi Arabian oil tanker, Amjad, denied being the target of an attack by Houthi militias in the Red Sea. The ship suffered no injuries or damage, according to the owner, Bahri. Despite being near another attacked ship, the Amjad remained fully operational and continued to its destination.

The US Central Command reported that the Houthis attacked two oil tankers, including the Amjad and the Blue Lagoon I, a Panamanian-flagged and Greek-operated vessel. The attacks occurred while the ships were in close proximity, as confirmed through satellite and ship tracking data. The Houthis’ spokesman, Yahya Saree, claimed responsibility for the attack on the Blue Lagoon I but made no mention of targeting the Saudi ship.

Bahri refrained from commenting further on the incident beyond the statement. The Houthis have stated that they only attack vessels associated with Israel, the US, or Britain in the Red Sea. This latest tension between the group and Saudi Arabia follows allegations by the Houthis’ leader of collaboration between Riyadh, Israel, and the US to prevent Houthi attacks in the region. Neither the Greek operator of the Blue Lagoon I nor the Saudi Arabian government have responded to requests for comment.
