SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies recently unveiled a comprehensive report at the Floating Offshore Wind Exhibition and Conference in Aberdeen, Scotland, showcasing the potential of its Swift Anchor technology. The study, conducted in collaboration with industry experts from London Marine Consultants and BVG Associates, revealed that the Swift Anchor technology could lead to Levelised Cost of Energy (LCoE) savings of up to 12%. Additionally, carbon emissions could be reduced by approximately 2% in challenging scenarios that were previously unsuitable for development.

Dirk Schulze, CEO at SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies, expressed confidence in the Swift Anchor technology’s ability to positively impact the emerging floating offshore wind market. The report’s findings, combined with technical advancements, demonstrate the financial and environmental benefits of the Swift Anchor. Schulze believes that the technology will play a crucial role in the floating offshore wind anchoring market as projects progress towards commercialization by the end of the decade, even in sites with rocky seabeds that were previously overlooked.

The study focused on assessing the potential impact of Swift Anchor technology on floating offshore wind farms in areas with rocky seabeds. By considering 28 different cases with varying depths, mooring loads, and rock properties, the study aimed to evaluate the applicability and adoption of the Swift Anchor across a range of project types. The report’s approach aligns with ORE Catapult’s ‘Guide to a Floating Offshore Wind Farm’ and highlights the versatility of the Swift Anchor technology in different project scenarios.

In addition to the report, SCHOTTEL Marine Technologies conducted extensive land-based trials in Germany over the past year to validate the performance of the Swift Anchor technology. The trials included various tests to assess the technology’s load holding capacity and specialized installation and decommissioning processes. These efforts demonstrate SCHOTTEL’s commitment to advancing offshore wind technology and preparing for commercial projects in the near future.
