ClassNK has granted Approval in Principle (AiP) for Kawasaki Heavy Industries’ “Safety Berthing/Unberthing Assistance System” and awarded an Innovation Endorsement for its Human Machine Interface. This enables the ‘a-SAFE’ notation for ClassNK-registered vessels, promoting advanced safety measures and supporting the integration of automated technologies in maritime operations.
On Wednesday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) assured deported Filipino seafarers of support and pledged to raise their issues with US officials. The seafarers, expelled under allegations of discrimination and due process violations, requested a diplomatic protest. The DFA will collaborate with relevant agencies to investigate and provide assistance.
The RNLI was praised for their 10-hour operation to save a historic sailing vessel in distress. The 1892 Brixham trawler, Leader, was assisted by three RNLI crews to reach safety. The vessel, now used as a training ship, was escorted to port for repairs, ensuring its continued service.
