This partnership aims to drive economic growth and emissions reduction through public-private collaboration.
Airseas, the French company with the lofty goal of helping to propel cargo ships with giant kites, ended 2023 with successful sea trials. The next step is to outfit giant ocean haulers with the wind catchers to save fuel and reduce air pollution. If successful, the Seawing kites could reduce fuel usage by an average of 20%.
The UK Government has allocated £33 million to fund over 30 projects for the development of green technologies in the country’s ports and ships. This funding will support demonstrations, factory trials, and feasibility studies across all 12 UK regions, positioning the UK as a leader in clean maritime tech.
