DP World’s Mundra terminal recently welcomed the first call of the ME11/IMX service under the Gemini Cooperation, enhancing trade links between the Indian Subcontinent, Middle East, and Europe. With 12 vessels and 16,000 TEU capacity, the service offers fast, flexible, and reliable ocean freight transportation, strengthening India’s trade ecosystem and boosting global connectivity.
DP World’s Mundra International Container Terminal (MICT) achieved a significant milestone in 2024, with a record-high throughput of 1.42 million TEUs. This marked an 11% increase from the previous year, showcasing its crucial role in Gujarat and contribution to India’s global trade network. Operational excellence, safety commitment, and sustainability efforts were key factors in this achievement.
The trials for the proposed India-Middle East-EU Economic Corridor (IMEC) will examine feasibility and rail links to ports, identifying gaps in connectivity and solutions. Cargo types planned include containers with further expansion to dry and liquid bulk. Selected ports on the west coast of India will connect to UAE ports for trial runs.
