Damen Shipyards Group has initiated a construction program for three shallow draft multipurpose support vessels at Albwardy Damen in the UAE to cater to the anticipated rise in offshore and dredging activities. These vessels, which are proven Damen models, are well-suited for the operating conditions in the region, particularly in shallow waters. The program includes the construction of a 27-meter Multi Cat 2712, a 33-meter Multi Cat 3313 SD (shallow draft), and a 27-meter Shoalbuster 2711, with deliveries scheduled between November 2025 and February 2026. These versatile workboats are capable of various support activities such as dredging and offshore installation and maintenance, aligning with the expected growth areas in the industry.
The vessels in the program are equipped to handle anchor handling, buoy handling, dredging support, general port maintenance, plough dredging, and towing/pushing tasks. They are also designed to meet IMO Tier III emission regulations. The Shoalbuster 2711, specifically tailored for shallow waters, boasts a 41-tonnes bollard pull, waterfall winch, and deck crane, making it suitable for offshore and shallow draft operations. On the other hand, the Multi Cat 3313 SD is ideal for ultra-shallow waters with a draught of just 2.2 meters and a spacious deck area of 200 m2 for various equipment handling purposes. The Multi Cat 2712, a mid-size model with over 30 tonnes of bollard pull, is versatile for different activities.
Customers of Damen vessels will have the flexibility to choose from a range of options to customize the vessels according to their specific requirements. The Damen Service Hub will provide full after-sales support and maintenance services, including crew training, in the region. This comprehensive support ensures that customers can maximize the efficiency and performance of their vessels for the intended operations.
