India’s First Green Hydrogen Container Designed by Braithwaite & Co. Ltd.

Braithwaite & Co. Limited (BCL), a Miniratna-1 CPSU under the Ministry of Railways, has developed India’s first container for transporting green Hydrogen. The 40ft x 8ft x 9.6ft container utilizes renewable energy to conduct electrolysis of water, producing Hydrogen and Oxygen. It is well-insulated and ventilated, drawing energy from sources like solar and wind. Following successful installation, commissioning, and testing, BCL anticipates receiving more orders from various sectors and industry houses. This specialized container goes beyond standard ISO containers, boasting 9 doors and 7 ventilators, along with various units for processing Hydrogen.

The innovative container includes a Stack Arrangement Unit, Cooling Unit, Water Treatment Plant, Air-Cooler, Rectifier, Hydrogen Purification Unit, Electrical Cabinet, and Exhaust Fan. The Hydrogen produced will undergo purification through a Hydrogen Purification Unit and an Air cooler/Cooling Unit installed on the roof. This development marks a step towards utilizing green energy sources for transportation and industry applications, promoting sustainability and eco-friendliness in India’s energy sector.
