Southampton’s maritime industry had a lot to celebrate at the Maritime UK Awards. NASH Maritime, a company based in the city, was named the small and medium-sized enterprise of the year at a recent ceremony in Belfast. Additionally, Scarlett Barnett-Smith, who was trained at Warsash Maritime School, received the prestigious Bevis Minter Award.
Maritime UK Solent had a strong presence at the ceremony on June 5, winning the Maritime UK Future Skills Award 2024. This award recognizes the organization’s efforts in promoting maritime careers and addressing industry skills needs. Maritime UK Solent is commended for its proactive approach in anticipating future challenges in the sector and successfully bridging the gap between education and industry by engaging with approximately 130,000 young individuals through schools and colleges.
Stuart Baker, the managing director of Maritime UK Solent, extended his congratulations to NASH Maritime Ltd and Scarlett Barnett-Smith for their achievements. He also praised Chris Shirling-Rooke MBE and the Maritime UK team for their outstanding work, as well as the city of Belfast for hosting a remarkable week of activities that culminated in the awards ceremony at the iconic Titanic Belfast.
