The crew consisted of Indian, Pakistani, Russian, Estonian, and Filipino nationals.

The Iranian news agency IRNA reported that the Zodiac Maritime Shipping Company, partly controlled by Israeli businessman Eyal Ofer, operates the Portuguese-flagged vessel. The situation underscores the delicate diplomatic relations in the region and the importance of prompt resolution for the affected crew members from multiple countries.

Amir-Abdollahian’s decision to allow Indian authorities to meet the crew members is a positive step towards resolving the situation. The Mediterranean Shipping Company’s efforts to work with Iranian partners for the release of the crew members highlight the importance of international cooperation in maritime incidents.
