The Panama Canal celebrated a historic milestone with the inaugural transit of the Disney Adventure, the largest cruise ship ever to navigate the waterway. Weighing 208,000 gross tons and capable of accommodating approximately 6,700 passengers, the ship measures 342 meters long and 46.4 meters wide. This transit was part of its positioning journey, marking a significant achievement in maritime history.

The Disney Adventure is one of five cruise ships making their debut during the 2025–2026 cruise season, alongside AIDAdiva, Brilliant Lady, Celebrity Ascent, and Star Seeker. The Panama Canal Authority anticipates over 40 Neopanamax cruise ships will transit the canal in fiscal year 2026.

Previously, the record for the largest passenger vessel was held by Norwegian Bliss, which carries 5,000 passengers and has a gross tonnage of 168,000. The Disney Adventure, added to the Disney Cruise Line fleet in 2025, was constructed at Meyer Werft shipyards in Germany and is homeported in Singapore, offering three- and four-night itineraries.

Highlights of the ship include bow artwork featuring Captain Mickey, Marvel Landing, the longest roller coaster at sea, and the Disney Imagination Garden, featuring a three-deck castle installation.
