The Dredging Corporation of India Limited (DCIL) has signed 22 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with 16 organizations during the India Maritime Week 2025, held at the Bombay Exhibition Centre from October 27 to 31. The agreements are valued at Rs 176.45 billion and involve collaborations with major ports including Visakhapatnam, Paradip, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Deendayal, all operating under the Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW). These partnerships focus on dredging operations planned over the next two to five years.
Significant collaborations include work with Cochin Shipyard for dredger construction and repairs, as well as agreements with Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) aimed at localizing dredger components. Other partnerships involve IHC for modernizing dredgers, and a joint venture with NMDC in Abu Dhabi to enhance operational efficiency. DCIL also plans to conduct bathymetry surveys and develop training modules in collaboration with IIT Chennai’s National Technology Centre for Ports, Waterways & Coasts.
Dr. M Angamuthu, Chairman of DCIL, expressed gratitude for government support, emphasizing a Rs 40 billion modernization investment announced by the Prime Minister. Captain S Divakar, Managing Director of DCIL, stated that these MoUs reinforce DCIL’s status as India’s leading dredging company, enabling it to handle complex projects with precision. Currently, DCIL operates a fleet of 10 Trailer Suction Hopper Dredgers, managing approximately 55% of India’s dredging needs. This initiative aligns with the government’s Maritime India Vision 2030 and Atmanirbhar Bharat 2047 goals, demonstrating a commitment to enhancing India’s maritime economy.
