Heightened security measures have been implemented at Paradip Port after the arrival of the Hong Kong-flagged merchant ship ‘MT Siren II,’ which carries 21 Pakistani crew members among its 25-person team. The Marine Police, CISF, and Customs Department are monitoring the crew’s movements continuously to prevent any potential security breaches. The vessel, which docked at the Single Point Mooring terminal, is transporting 196,580 metric tons of crude oil for IOCL, having traveled from South Korea via Singapore.

Authorities have mandated that the ship remain anchored until cargo unloading is complete, ensuring that the Pakistani crew does not disembark. The Paradip Immigration Department alerted security forces about the situation, prompting close surveillance of the ship throughout the unloading process.

Amid ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, security personnel are particularly cautious, especially following a recent incident involving a Pakistani diplomat caught spying. Under Operation Sindoor, India has enacted strict maritime movement restrictions with Pakistan, reinforcing monitoring protocols for vessels like the ‘MT Siren II.’ Given the volatile nature of the cargo, local boats are facilitating offloading while maintaining stringent security measures to prevent any illicit activities.
