India, Netherlands Join Forces for Lothal Maritime Heritage Project

In a significant development, India and the Netherlands have formalized their collaboration on maritime heritage through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) concerning the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) located in Lothal, Ahmedabad district. This agreement aims to enhance cooperation in preserving and promoting maritime heritage.

The MoU was officially exchanged during a meeting between India’s Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the Dutch Foreign Minister David van Wiel. The partnership reflects both nations’ commitment to fostering cultural and historical ties through maritime initiatives.

As part of this collaboration, the National Maritime Museum in Amsterdam will work closely with India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways. This partnership will focus on various projects related to the NMHC, which is poised to play a crucial role in showcasing India’s rich maritime history.
