India is seeking Norway’s collaboration in cultural, technological, and academic initiatives for the National Maritime Heritage Complex in Lothal, Gujarat. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal made this announcement during a visit to Oslo, where he joined Norway’s Crown Prince Haakon to inaugurate the India Pavilion at Nor-Shipping, a premier global maritime event.
During the event, the Crown Prince expressed interest in India’s recent economic achievements and praised its growth trajectory. He also confirmed plans to visit India later this year, accompanied by a high-level business delegation, signaling potential opportunities for deeper bilateral ties.
Prominent Indian shipbuilders, including Cochin Shipyard Ltd, Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd, Goa Shipyard, Mandovi Dry Docks, and L&T Shipbuilding, participated in the event, showcasing India’s maritime capabilities.
Additionally, Sonowal honored the memory of 86 Indian sailors who sacrificed their lives during World War II at Norway’s Minnehallen Memorial in Stavern, underscoring the historical ties and shared sacrifices between the two nations.
