Indian Seafarers in Persian Gulf Confirmed Safe, Government Assures

All Indian seafarers in the Persian Gulf are reported safe, with no incidents involving Indian-flagged vessels noted in the last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways. Currently, 17 Indian-flagged ships with 460 seafarers are present in the western Persian Gulf. The Director General of Shipping is closely monitoring the situation in coordination with ship owners, placement agencies, and Indian diplomatic missions to ensure the safety of the crew and the continuity of maritime operations.

The DG Shipping Control Room operates around the clock, having received over 5,000 calls and 10,500 emails since its activation, including 73 calls and 122 emails in the past day. So far, more than 1,479 Indian seafarers have been safely repatriated, with 159 returning in the last 24 hours from various locations in the Gulf. Meanwhile, Indian port operations remain normal, with no congestion reported across several states.

The Ministry of External Affairs is actively monitoring the situation in the Gulf and West Asia, prioritizing the safety and welfare of Indian nationals. Indian Missions maintain close contact with the community, providing necessary assistance and advisories. They are also facilitating the return of stranded Indian fishermen, with 345 recently repatriated from Iran, demonstrating ongoing efforts to support citizens abroad.
