In a significant advancement for India’s maritime logistics, the Deendayal Port Authority (DPA) in Kandla welcomed the MV Capetan Vassilis II, the nation’s inaugural Premium Products Vessel, which docked at Cargo Jetty No. 2. This arrival marks a pivotal moment for the agri-input sector, as it facilitates the first shipment of premium crop nutrition products transported via bulk carrier instead of traditional containers.
This shift to bulk cargo handling represents a major leap for Kandla Port, modernizing operations and enhancing supply chain efficiency. The transition is expected to significantly reduce turnaround times and lower logistics costs, ultimately improving product availability for farmers across India.
Managed by Rishi Shipping as the stevedore and involving YARA as the importer, this initiative underscores DPA’s growing importance in developing farmer-focused agri supply chains. As Kandla Port strengthens its role as a central hub for agricultural and industrial trade, this innovative approach promises substantial benefits for the nation’s agricultural sector.
