The 14th edition of INMEX SMM India, South Asia’s premier maritime exhibition and conference, kicked off at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Mumbai from September 10 to 12, 2025. This event attracts maritime experts globally to discuss innovations and policies impacting the industry.
Inaugurated by Minister Nitesh Rane, notable attendees included Shyam Jagannathan (Director General of Shipping) and Monica Nagelgaard (Royal Norwegian Consulate General). Rane highlighted Maharashtra’s strategic vision to become a global maritime hub, emphasizing the importance of the state’s Shipbuilding, Ship Repair, and Ship Recycling Policy 2025 in advancing the sector.
Rane noted Maharashtra’s pivotal role in India’s GDP, asserting that the state’s ports are essential to both domestic and international supply chains. Investments in developing major shipyard clusters and projects like the Mumbai Water Metro are crucial for enhancing the maritime industry.
By improving multimodal connectivity at key ports such as Vadhavan, Maharashtra aims to boost export growth and industrial development. Minister Rane expressed optimism that the event would lead to fruitful partnerships and opportunities for domestic and international delegates.
