The tender was released on the Karnataka Public Procurement Portal on Nov 12. The proposed port site is located in Pavinakurve village along the coast, near the estuarine region of River Sharavathi and River Badagani in Honnavar Taluk. The port is designed to handle various commodities such as iron ore, coal, coking coal, limestone, dolomite, green hydrogen, green ammonia, LNG, and finished steel products. Initially, the port will have a cargo handling capacity of 14 MTPA, with plans to increase to approximately 40 MTPA in the future. The project cost is estimated to be around Rs. 3,047.86 crores.

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for Dec 10, with bids due by Jan 9. The project will be awarded to the bidder offering the highest royalty per MT handled at the port.

The port’s strategic location and advanced facilities will support the efficient handling of various commodities, contributing to the state’s economic growth. The project’s emphasis on environmental sustainability and modern infrastructure signifies a commitment to responsible development in the region. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to participate in the tender process and contribute to the port’s successful establishment and operation.
