Paradip Port Authority (PPA), Odisha’s primary port, has set a remarkable record by handling 75 million metric tonnes (MMT) of cargo this financial year, making it the fastest any major Indian port has achieved this milestone. The port reached this benchmark on September 26, 2025, marking a 5.03% increase in cargo from the previous year and doing so 10 days earlier than the FY 2024–25 timeline, demonstrating exceptional operational efficiency.

Key contributors to PPA’s impressive performance include a significant increase in crude oil, which reached 17.22 MMT (up 19.34% year-on-year), and coastal thermal coal at 22.51 MMT (up 4.3%). Strategic planning, improved infrastructure, and strong collaboration with stakeholders were credited for this achievement.
