Union Minister of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Sarbananda Sonowal, held extensive review meetings with officials in Mumbai to assess key maritime projects. He emphasized the importance of maintaining normal business operations amid current challenges and directed officials to ensure smooth cargo movement.
Major organizations under the Ministry, including the Shipping Corporation of India and Mumbai Port Authority, participated in the day-long discussions. The Minister also evaluated the progress of the National Maritime Heritage Complex (NMHC) at Lothal, Gujarat, a flagship initiative aimed at enhancing maritime heritage.
Additionally, Sonowal conducted an in-depth review of the Greenfield Mega Port project at Vadhavan, engaging with Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority Chairman Unmesh Wagh and senior officials. He stressed the urgency of accelerating port development, aligning with the Prime Minister’s vision of positioning India as a global maritime leader.
