The Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board (APMB) has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with APM Terminals, part of A.P. Moller–Maersk, for the development of three significant ports in Andhra Pradesh, necessitating an investment of ₹9,000 crore. The agreement was signed in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and signifies a major leap towards the establishment of modern ports at Ramayapatnam, Machilipatnam, and Mulapeta, equipped with state-of-the-art terminals and cargo-handling systems.

Naidu emphasized the vision of transforming Andhra Pradesh into the “eastern gateway” for maritime trade, aiming to establish the state as a major logistics hub in India. He urged officials to foster an economic ecosystem around the new ports, facilitating affordable cargo transport for neighboring states such as Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Odisha.
