Dr. M. Angamuthu, IAS, Chairperson of the Visakhapatnam Port Authority, has called on Andhra Pradesh’s maritime community to actively participate in India Maritime Week 2025. Speaking at the PORTCON-2025 roadshow in Visakhapatnam, he emphasized this event as a prime opportunity for stakeholders to promote the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu’s Swarnandhra vision and elevate the state’s maritime sector. The Chief Minister aims to encourage maritime activities along the state’s extensive coastline, which stands as India’s third-largest, presenting significant prospects for businesses in shipping, ports, and logistics.
Scheduled for Mumbai from October 27-31, 2025, the India Maritime Week is expected to attract over 100,000 delegates from more than 100 countries, marking it as one of the largest maritime gatherings globally. Dr. Angamuthu noted the attendance of leading figures from the maritime industry, underscoring the event’s importance.
Additionally, he highlighted VPA’s recent hackathon aimed at addressing operational challenges in port operations, making it the first of its kind in the country. Various officials, including Mruthanjeya Jha from MoPSW and Sridhar, Principal Secretary of Customs, contributed insights on the evolving maritime sector and the collaborative efforts required for its advancement.
