Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) launched “Vizag Skill Sail 2025 – Skill Development Conclave with Green Port Start-up” on Friday, aimed at enhancing maritime skills and promoting sustainable port innovations. The event united government officials, industry leaders, and academics to discuss opportunities in skill development, entrepreneurship, and eco-friendly port solutions.

VPA chairperson Dr. M. Angamuthu presented both short- and long-term plans in line with the Prime Minister’s Vision 2047 for a dynamic India. He emphasized Vizag’s potential as a maritime and educational hub, backed by the state government’s efforts to position it as Andhra Pradesh’s financial capital. VPA aims to train 5,000 students annually, with a target of 500,000 by 2047.

District collector M. N. Harendhira Prasad discussed the Swarnandhra 2047 vision, which seeks to create a $2.4 trillion economy through port-led manufacturing and a skilled workforce. Joint secretary R. Lakshmanan highlighted the development of shipbuilding clusters in collaboration with IMU and CEMS.

Principal commissioner of customs N. Sridhar commended VPA’s green initiatives, while T.K. Ramachandran introduced a green port startup innovation challenge focused on cleaner ports and renewable energy integration. Students from IMU, CEMS, and business schools actively engaged with maritime experts during the conclave.
