Visakhapatnam Port Authority Rises to 19th Place in Global Port Rankings

In the 2023 global port rankings, the Visakhapatnam Port Authority (VPA) achieved a significant milestone by securing 20th place with an index point of 62.29 and 19th place in the Container Port Performance Index. This marked a significant improvement from its 122nd place ranking in the previous year, showcasing the port’s progress and growth in the industry. In the current financial year, the port has set a challenging target of achieving a throughput of 90 MTPA of cargo, reflecting its ambitious goals and commitment to further development.

The Visakhapatnam Port Authority reported a notable achievement in May 2024, recording a cargo throughput of 8,582,000 tons from 221 vessels. This surpassed the previous peak volume of 7,623,000 tons in March of the same year, demonstrating the port’s ability to handle increasing volumes of cargo efficiently.
