On August 7, a fire erupted on the cargo vessel Tali while navigating the North Sea, northwest of Feistein Fyr, Norway. The ship, carrying 14 crew members, was traveling from Cuxhaven, Germany, to Tau, Norway, when the incident occurred around 8:48 p.m. local time. Norwegian authorities quickly responded to the emergency.
A specialized firefighting team from Sola and a rescue helicopter were dispatched to the scene. They arrived approximately an hour later and found the fire largely under control. Fortunately, all crew members were safe, though one individual was airlifted for medical evaluation due to potential smoke inhalation. An investigation into the fire’s cause has been initiated.
The crew had activated the vessel’s onboard fire suppression system and sealed off the engine room to contain the blaze. Despite their efforts, the fire inflicted damage, necessitating towing assistance. Two tugboats arrived in the early hours of August 8 and successfully towed Tali to Stavanger, where it was safely berthed at Mekjarvik.
