French shipping company CMA CGM announced on Thursday that it is repositioning some vessels to safe areas due to severe weather affecting the Atlantic, particularly along the coastlines of France, Spain, and Morocco. The company highlighted the exceptional intensity and duration of the weather conditions, especially in the Bay of Biscay.
To ensure the safety of crews and cargo, CMA CGM has decided to place vessels in secure locations throughout the affected region, which extends from southern Morocco to the entrance of the English Channel. Key holding positions include Seine Bay and Gibraltar.
This precaution follows similar warnings from competitors Maersk and Hapag-Lloyd, who have also reported potential disruptions to cargo flows across Europe due to storms and snow.
The ongoing weather challenges are raising concerns about maritime navigation in the region, prompting shipping companies to take proactive measures to safeguard their operations.
