DP World has introduced five electric internal transfer vehicles (EITVs) at Laem Chabang International Terminal (LCIT) in Thailand, marking a significant milestone in its decarbonization efforts. This initiative aligns with the Port Authority of Thailand’s Green Port strategy, aiming to transform Laem Chabang into a fully green facility by 2030. The EITVs are projected to lower carbon emissions by approximately 60% compared to traditional diesel units.

The company plans to fully electrify its internal transfer vehicle fleet by 2030, contributing to a reduction in the overall CO2 footprint of LCIT compared to 2022. Additionally, DP World is implementing solar energy projects throughout the terminal, with installations at key locations such as the warehouse container freight station.

Beyond environmental benefits, the EITVs are expected to enhance operational efficiency by expediting container transfers between vessels and the yard, thereby reducing turnaround times and improving terminal productivity.
