Iridium Communications Inc. has launched the Iridium PNT ASIC, a compact application-specific integrated circuit designed for various electronic devices. This innovative chip provides authenticated positioning, navigation, and timing (PNT) data, serving as a robust alternative to traditional GNSS systems. It aims to protect against increasing threats of jamming and spoofing, which have become more prevalent in recent years, affecting sectors such as aviation and maritime operations.

Measuring just 8mm by 8mm, the Iridium PNT ASIC can be integrated into everything from consumer electronics to critical infrastructure like power grids and telecom networks. It connects to the Iridium satellite network, offering a signal that is 1,000 times more powerful than GPS and functional indoors. This capability ensures that GNSS-dependent applications can detect issues and maintain operations until problems are resolved.
