Kongsberg Maritime has secured a contract with Compagnie Maritime Monegasque (CMM) to provide advanced ship design and technology for six hybrid platform supply vessels (PSVs) with oil spill recovery capacity. These vessels will support Petrobras’ offshore operations. CMM won the bid for six state-of-the-art hybrid large multipurpose 5,000 DWT PSVs with oil spill recovery capacity, resulting in firm 12-year charter contracts with Petrobras for the newbuilds.
Kongsberg Maritime will supply ship design services and an integrated equipment package for the 92-meter UT7420 vessels, the latest generation of the company’s successful UT design range. These PSVs will feature advanced design, cutting-edge technology, and hybrid propulsion systems that significantly improve fuel efficiency compared to traditional vessels. The vessels are also designed to be upgraded to ethanol fuel, further reducing carbon emissions by up to 70% once the upgrade is completed.
Atle Gaasø, Sales Director Offshore at Kongsberg Maritime, emphasized the project’s importance in advancing sustainable offshore operations. He highlighted the innovative ship design, advanced hybrid propulsion, and integrated solutions that ensure unparalleled fuel efficiency, safety, and sustainability. Christophe Vancauwenbergh, CEO of CMM, praised Kongsberg Maritime’s innovative ship design for contributing to more efficient and sustainable offshore operations. He noted the critical role of Kongsberg Maritime’s expertise and Brazilian presence in the success of the bid and expressed optimism about final confirmation of the tender.
