The Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) has unveiled the ‘Dubai Code for Ports,’ a groundbreaking initiative that sets a new standard for maritime infrastructure worldwide. This comprehensive technical guide aims to create an integrated framework of specifications for developing and managing ports and marinas, thereby enhancing operational efficiency and sustainability in Dubai’s maritime sector.
Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, Chairman of the PCFC, emphasized the project’s significance in promoting a safe and efficient maritime environment that supports Dubai’s Economic Agenda D33 and strengthens its status in global trade. The initiative is designed to reinforce Dubai’s pivotal role in the global supply chain while addressing the increasing demand for effective maritime infrastructure.
A strategic workshop held at Dubai’s Jumeirah Beach Hotel brought together key maritime partners to discuss the project’s objectives. CEO Nasser Al Neyadi highlighted that the ‘Dubai Code for Ports’ is a proactive response to the rapid growth in maritime transport, aiming to facilitate trade, marine tourism, and other economic activities. The guide covers essential technical requirements, including soil inspection and dredging, ensuring a high standard for port and marina management.
