On July 7, the UAE successfully rescued 22 individuals from the British-flagged vessel Magic Seas, which was attacked by Houthi rebels in the Red Sea. The assault forced the crew to abandon ship amidst challenging sea conditions. The UAE’s Safa Breeze, operated by Abu Dhabi Ports Group, promptly responded to the vessel’s distress call and reached the scene in time to facilitate the rescue.
All personnel on board, including crew members and security staff, were safely evacuated. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) reported that the operation was conducted in full coordination with the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) and other international maritime organizations.
MoFA emphasized that all safety protocols were meticulously followed during the rescue. This incident follows an attack claimed by Yemen’s Houthi rebels, who stated they had targeted the Magic Seas using drones, ballistic and cruise missiles, and unmanned boats.
